It’s the 1960s. There is a culture clash brewing in the world. And in one church, where a do-good Christian singing group is rehearsing, a radical leftist group breaks into the place of worship with the intention of blowing it up as part of a protest–until they discover the singing teens, and a culture clash begins in Madison, in turn leading to misunderstandings and mayhem.
For What It’s Worth is Broom Street Theater’s newest play by author Cassi Harris. The show premieres Friday, June 20 and runs through the end of July. Harris, a Broom Street Theater veteran and member of the theater’s Board, received her M. F. A. in playwriting from Rutgers, the same university where long-time Broom Street Artistic Director, Joel Gersmann, studied as an undergraduate. She has had several plays produced and published, most recently last season’s Dancing in Cleo’s Cafe, which not only premiered at Broom Street, but was also published in December by Dramatic Publishing Company. It and other Harris plays are available for purchase on Amazon.com.
For What It’s Worth is brought to life by a talented ensemble cast including Broom Street veterans Ethan Mutz, Lauri Harty, Tom Collins, Greg Johnson, Amanda Hammer, Odari McWhorter, and Matt Kenyon, along with newcomers Christina Beller and Stu Bittner-Rossmiller. Ben Doran is the understudy.
